We have been serving the retail industry since 1990 and continue to provide the convenient quality service that has made us an innovative leader in electronic point of sale systems.
The Scanfast system was initially developed in 1990 to solve the frustrations of an associated convenience store which could not find a suitable system. Other members of the symbol group heard about its efficiency and asked to purchase the retail management system and thus a business emerged. Now in version 9, Sirius' Scanfast is mature and has been developed to deliver best practice in retail management. Over the past five years the system has been sold commercially in Ireland servicing symbol stores with numerous wholesale suppliers.
The system is constantly being developed to include suggestions made by users, wholesalers and through the experience gained in the sister company's symbol store. We often anticipate issues as they arise and have developed solutions before users have recognised the need.
In 2001 we were the first to introduce touchscreen technology into the convenience store environment. Some years early were the first to provide retailers with an on-line PLOF from their wholesaler, on their back office system.
New modules have been added including forecourt operations, Broadband E-Top-up and mobile Touchscreen EPOS terminals for use by retailers and wholesalers. In the forecourt market Sirius brings its strength in complex grocery management to bare with integrated fuel sales and ordering.
Sirius is owned and managed by Tom and Paul Gormley. Paul has in-depth experience in retail management and an interest in a symbol convenience store. The store is used to anticipate future requirements and as the test bed for Sirius systems. Tom has an extensive background as a Software engineer and worked with several leading software organisations before concentrating full time on Sirius five years ago.
